Karl Hyde has been constantly producing painting works along with his musical activity and he has been exhibiting his pieces in several art events in the past.
He put together art program entitled “ART JAM” with Rick Smith (Underworld) and John Warwicker (tomato), and Simon Taylor (tomato) in Oblivion Ball event in 2007 at Makuhari Messe. They created 45m wide, 7m high gigantic wall painting overnight and blew audience’s mind away. Also in 2008, Underworld and tomato held “Beautiful Burnout Artjam: The Art of Underworld” at Jacobson Howard Gallery, NY.
“What’s going on in your Head when you’re Dancing?” is going to be a extremely rare opportunity to see Karl Hyde’s first ever solo painting exhibition anywhere in the world. It showcases about 90 paintings including the ones sized over 2m high and idea notebooks, as well as videos that reveal his painting process. Live painting performance by Karl Hyde himself will take place on the first day of the exhibition and the painted piece will be showcased in the exhibition space from the 2nd day.
As you can imagine from the title, you will enjoy seeing the deepest part of Karl Hyde’s creation that is intrinsically linked with music and his love of translating the music of Underworld through dance.
