On 17th March, Underworld celebrated the meeting of the groups past, present and future at their biggest ever UK headline show – a sold-out event at London’s Alexandra Palace.

Surreal Carnival Experiment / Rick Smith Live:

Underworld all night: Rick Smith kicked things off with a performance-come-installation in the middle of the main room with tracks from a deep-dive into the Underworld catalogue will be deconstructed and re-conceived alongside new and improvised work written specifically for the show by Rick. This support to the main event was networked throughout the building in a collaboration directed by tomato’s Simon Taylor, that offered hints at things to come from Underworld.

Rick Smith kicked things off with a performance-come-installation in the middle of the main room from inside a projection covered tower with tracks from a deep-dive into the Underworld catalogue. With deconstructed and re-conceived tracks alongside new and improvised work written specifically for the show. Alongside this, the building was networked in a collaboration directed by tomato’s Simon Taylor, that offered hints at things to come from Underworld with flash dancers, stilt walkers and IVG screens to become part of the night.

All this proceeded what Electronic Sound described as “it blew the doors off any ideas of what a live show should be”.
